My JP site is closing for good

Tue Sep 29, 2009, 6:43 AM
GeoCities are closing down at the end of October, which means that after 13 years my JP site will be deleted :noes: I've thought long and hard about creating a new JP site, but there just isn't enough news or activiy in the JP fandom to keep a new site going... and I hate the thought of having an empty "ghost" site.

My JP graphics are still available, they have been moved to my PhotoBucket account here > [link] and my Forums are also staying open after my site closes > [link]

Ironically JurassicPark.com has undergone an amazing revamp after years and years of the same Main Gate animation :lmao: With the BluRay release of JP1 on the horizon, have a look at the shiny new site here > [link]

Want to see JPIV released in cinemas? Fed up with this 8 year wait? Then join the WE WANT IV campaign > [link]

I've started selling my JP collection on eBay UK because my heart now belongs to those GINAT EFFIN' ROBOTS. Look for items with the seller name razzie_mbessai :sherlock:

I'm not sure how we went for so long without being affiliated with each other. :o I guess I just didn't think about it!
It's ~RestrainedRaptor here, by the way. =)

Hey! It's Jon from the JPdb. I'm just dropping by to say hello. I read on your page that the site will be going away when Geocities closes its doors. I seriously thought they'd be around forever. If you want, I'd be able to offer you hosting on my site. I've been struggling with a new design for the site for the last 2 years, and I still can't get anywhere. Work and school have kept me really busy, but I managed to graduate with a degree in Astrophysics. Now, just to find a job in my field. That'll be a task. :)

Cheers,
Jon

Greetings Jon! It's nice to see JPdb is still in business, and as for your offer of some hosting space... I've thought long and hard about it and decided I won't be starting up another JP site :( There just isn't enough JP news or activity in the fandom to keep it going, and I hate the thought of having a "ghost" site.

 Congratulations on your degree, and I hope you get a job you can really enjoy

Of course. :) It'll be around forever! I will hopefully buying a theme off someone from Deviant soon to re-skin the forum. Coding by myself is tough with a full-time job in the way. I remember being younger, spending all day and night writing code, making graphics. Now you have all this Web 2.0 stuff to watch out for. Browser issues. I can't keep up!

Thank you! I had an interview with NASA two months ago. Long interview process. I was one of the final two. Finally they got back to me on Tuesday. Unfortunately, I wasn't picked to work on the Hubble and James Webb Space Telescope. :( I'll just keep trying :-D

Aaah yes...
a good Jurassic Park fan. I remember those childhood memories of hearing that very first theatre-shaking roar, along with Jurassic Park ride as well, but mostly the movie

All of the series is amazing :aww: and lovely artwork you've got to show your fandom to it, mate :boogie:
